Filament 3D Printing Basics - Now with Multiple Materials

Learn the basics of 3D printing and how to use the filament printers at MakeICT!
(Note: Resin printing is a separate class, keep on the lookout for those)

We'll cover how 3D printing works, materials used in 3D printing, importing 3D files into slicer software, and important techniques for successful printing. Each participant will get a chance to practice with the software and print a small object to take home. Sample models will be provided, but participants may also bring in an STL file of a small (~3cm³) object to try out.

Completion of this class will grant authorization for using the filament 3D printers at MakeICT.

New for 2026: This class will also provide a demo of multi-material printing with the Snapmaker U1 and discuss a few of the small differences between using that printer and the Prusa series.

Please bring your own laptop if you have one, with the latest version of PrusaSlicer installed (https://www.prusa3d.com/page/prusaslicer_424/). Limited laptops are also available at MakeICT.
