This class requires you to bring your own laptop. Installing Visual Studio in advance is optional but is highly recommended since it takes a while to install.
In this class we will learn the basics of writing computer programs using the Visual Basic programming language. We will be using a free, home license of Visual Studio to write and run our code. The class is a good introduction for people who have never programmed anything before. We will learn about variables, if statements, loops, functions, and forms. We will make a simple program with a user interface to encode and decode secret messages using a cipher. The skills learned in this class will be useful for work or home programming projects.
